Sense and Sensibility, by Kate Hamill, is a daring new adaptation of Jane Austen's classic beloved novel. The play follows the Dashwood sisters as they learn to navigate family misfortunes, the toils of gossip, the pains of heartache and the consequences that come from their choices.
+SENIOR CAPSTONE ROLE: this role fulfilled the capstone requirement by Belmont University Department of Theatre & Dance. A capstone role encompasses the lessons, training and skills over the four years of training at Belmont. It is a role that is meant to challeneg, despite its size, and is auditioned for by the entirity of the department. Extensive dramaturgical research, seperate rehearsals, dilect training, and time was poured into this process by the capstone student.
Elinor is known for being the sense in Sense & Sensibility. Heartbroken after her father’s death, she battles with herself to remain calm, cool and collected. She is the glue that keeps her family together as they move to their new home and leave the life they knew, behind. Elinor is bound to her duty, her reputation, and her family. Though she is the pillar of the family, she transcends into a journey of finding the balance between following her heart, yet also remaining sensible at her core. Elinor is reserved, intellectual, practical, fiercely loyal, thoughtful, respected and calm. She conceals the true nature of her heart in regards to Edward, despite the pain it causes her.
